Advanced Media Design

Travel & Tourism Website and App Prototype, Spring 2021

For this assignment, students selected a state or country as their focus location. Prior to developing anything visual, they researched the location extensively and approached the assignment as a first-time visitor to this location. They created a website from scratch utilizing Webflow (the free version allows 2 pages) with the intent that the website serves as the first point of contact/initial planning tool for a user who may be interested in visiting this area. For the website they played close attention to developing both an inviting user interface as well as a site that is easy to use.

After developing the site, they moved on to developing the app prototype in Adobe XD. The goal of the app was to serve as a tool while the travelers were traveling on site. Students spent time researching travel app best practices as well as fundamental UX/UI principles of design and interaction.

Fruit of the Loom, Men’s Partnership Campaign, Spring 2021

Students worked under the direction of the Fruit of the Loom creative team to create this multi-media project. Their creative brief challenged them to choose a brand for Fruit of the Loom to partner with and then develop a unique way to package the products together and to develop a campaign to promote the partnership. The objective was to produce a visually exciting campaign that successfully reached the intended target market (Men 18-35) and encouraged trial of the Fruit of the Loom products. The project was introduced half way through the semester and the class met with the creative team for check-points and critiques with the final meeting being a final pitch/presentation. Due to COVID-19 precautions, these meetings took place via Microsoft teams which increased the students’ video conference, presentation, and communication skills.

Deliverables:

Unique packaging structure/graphic mockup, Distinctive Partnership Pairing, Promotional Materials, In-Store Merchandising, Special Prints/Patterns to go along with the partnership (optional), Web component
