L&N Railpark and Museum

These images document the process of the creation of exhibition designs for L&N Railpark’s “Railroads Go to War” exhibit. Throughout the semester, Fall 2018 Art 438 Advanced Media Design students met with the railpark staff to develop and present their ideas; the semester culminated in a final presentation to the L & N Railpark’s board of directors. This project boasted 13 student designers and over 100+ of in-class design and production time. To date, all exhibits have been printed and installed (with the last two exhibits being unveiled in Fall 2021).

This project was also presented at the UCDA Design Education Summit documenting creative research on how to best collaborate with community partners on service-design projects.

“Rosie The Riveter” received an honorable mention at the UCDA Design Awards.

Student Interviews

For my presentation documenting collaborating with community partners, students were interviewed about outcomes of the project. Interviews feature Sydney Thomas, Mckenna Webb, and Trent James.

Circus Train Exhibit, Independent Study

In Spring 2022, Kassidy Lynch completed an Independent Study under by direction. She worked with the Miliska Knauft and the Railpark Staff and Board to create their newest exhibit featuring the history of the circus train. Kassidy conducted initial research, gave a pitch of her ideas and met frequently with the Railpark for checkpoints and feedback. In Fall 2022, the exhibit was unveiled to the public.
